October 27, 1914: HMS Audacious sinking near Tory Island, Ireland. The battleship hit a mine laid by SMS Berlin (ex-North German Lloyd liner Berlin, later the White Star Line's Arabic). The crew were picked up by HMT Olympic and HMS Liverpool. Olympic attempted to take Audacious in tow but this failed. Audacious sank the next day. The wreck was not found until 1995.
