Grace Darling Memorial
Bamburgh, Northumberland, England

This memorial is located in St. Aidan's churchyard overlooking the North Sea. It was not far from this spot on Sept. 7, 1838 Grace risked her life to rescue the survivors of SS Forfarshire which had run on to Big Harcar Rock in a violent storm. She became a national heroin for her actions. She died only two years later of tuberculosis. Currently the lifeboat at Seahouses is named in her honour.
